This is not a bee

 

The masquerading syrphid fly looks like a bee or wasp but isn't.

While sipping breakfast beverages around the big table in the cabin, we got an incidental entomology lesson from Dr. Phillips: Not a bee or wasp. “You can tell by looking at the eyes. Those are flies’ eyes.”
